Discover Venice Through Photography, One Step at a Time
When I take photographs in Venice, I never want the experience to feel like a simple photo shoot. I’m Pietro Volpato, a photographer based in Venice, and for me, photography is also a wonderful excuse to explore, slow down, and enjoy the city.
Venice has an incredible ability to make even an ordinary walk feel special. A quiet bridge, a narrow calle, the reflection of a building on the water, or a sudden glimpse of a gondola can become part of a personal story. My photography sessions are designed to capture those moments while helping couples and solo travelers experience Venice in a more authentic way.
Exploring Venice Beyond the Famous Landmarks
Of course, Venice has its iconic sights, and they deserve to be photographed. But some of my favorite places are often away from the busiest tourist routes.
During the session, I like exploring different parts of the city, mixing well-known locations with quieter corners. This creates a more varied photography experience and gives you the opportunity to see another side of Venice.
For me, the walk is an essential part of the experience. We take our time, discover beautiful locations, stop when something catches our attention, and enjoy the atmosphere of the city. The photographs naturally become part of this journey.
Photography for Couples and Solo Travelers
Whether you are traveling as a couple or discovering Venice on your own, I adapt the photography session to you.
For couples, I look for natural interactions, laughter, movement, and those small moments that show your connection. I also include some more carefully composed portraits, creating a cinematic balance between spontaneous and intentional images.
If you are traveling solo, the experience can be just as enjoyable. It is a chance to explore Venice with a photographer while creating beautiful portraits that feel personal rather than overly posed.
A Gondola Ride Can Become Part of the Story
A gondola ride can also be included in the experience. It is romantic for couples, but it can be fun and memorable for solo travelers too.
From a photographer’s perspective, being on the water opens up completely different possibilities. The movement of the gondola, the reflections, the architecture, and the atmosphere of Venice can create truly cinematic photographs.
More Than a Photography Session
I don’t believe in rushing through Venice just to take a few pictures. That is why my photography sessions are not short. I want there to be enough time to explore, enjoy the city, experiment with different locations, and let the photographs develop naturally.
The result is not only a collection of portraits. It is also a memory of how you experienced Venice.
